Southern Hospitality
When arriving in Tennessee a few days ago I noticed a sign as I entered the ladies room. It said "Nursing Station". I did a double take, kept walking and as I turned the corner here is what I saw. How nice I thought. Then I thought how prudish are these southerners to be sending the message that breast feeding should be done in the restroom, not in public. What do you think?
I actually think it is a nice thing to have and the restrooms where quite clean.

I think it's nice- I love that you even took a photo Mama LS. I remember meeting a friend at the Short Hills Mall in NJ a few years ago, she was nursing at the time and very excited that the ladies room in Saks b/c it had a nice lounge area. I think it's harder in the burbs to find nice quiet places. It's funny- I never thought I'd be able to nurse in public- but once you are in the situation - you lose all modesty. I would love to have one in the WFC- where you could pop in btwn errands and force you to relax for a minute.
ReplyDeleteAs a newly coined burbs mom, I have actually been pleasantly surprised by the abundance of nursing-friendly benches everywhere. Nordstom's also has a great lounge with tons of seating and a padded changing area that Master D will actually lie on (topped with my changing pad). Master D doesn't really nurse out and about very often, but it does feel like more places are trying to accommodate breast feeding moms.
